Question

How long will the ceremony be?

Answer

It’s during a Catholic Mass...the 4:00pm one at St. Ann’s to be specific, so in all told, the ceremony will be a little over an hour.

Question

So wait, you’re getting married DURING the Saturday evening Mass?

Answer

That’s correct! Instead of having a wedding WITH a Mass, it will be during the normal 4pm service on Saturday. People who usually come to this service will be in attendance in addition to our guests. The more the merrier!

Question

I’m not Catholic, so I’m confused: people are sitting, then standing, then sitting again. What do I do?

Answer

Feel free to sit and stand when others do (it’s an easy workout), and at about 45 minutes in, when the Communion procession begins, you can enter the line to get a blessing or remain seated. Your choice!

Question

I’m confused by the reception...how will an “open house” reception work?

Answer

Think: a graduation open house, except for a wedding. Different milestone, same kind of celebration. We don’t care about toasts, speeches, cake cutting or dancing-we just want to see and hang out with the people we love! What we have in mind is a very simple idea to finish the Mass, and then everyone heads to find something to have for dinner on their own. After having dinner, we will be eager to visit with our near and dear, so just head on over to the Holiday Inn & Suites on Elmore Ave. (the J Bar) in Davenport at or after 7:00pm for some music, desserts, and drinks! We’ll be there from 7pm to midnight just hanging out-so stop by whenever you want and for however long you want.

For all the days along the way
