Darryl and Lauren met at a mutual friend's party on April Fools, 2016. She complimented his shoes so, naturally, Darryl fell in love immediately. He spent the next three hours trying to impress her (keeping it casual, of course). What he didn't realize was the shoe compliment was Lauren's attempt at spitting game (clearly, a match made in heaven). The next day, as his millennial forefathers before him, Darryl slid into those DMs. They went on three dates. She wasn't ready. She broke it off. THE END. ...UNTIL years later, after some emotional growth and time alone (while Darryl remained a true and steady friend), Lauren began to realize how perfect a guy he really was. She started dropping hints. Now lets remember, her idea of flirting is complimenting someone's shoes, so it took Darryl a second to realize she was interested. Deciding to test the waters, Darryl extended an olive branch in the form of an invite to a Dodgers game. Lauren will tell you that this was ABSOLUTELY their first date. Darryl disagrees. In his opinion, it was a friendly invite to suss out whether or not it was safe to ask her out again. They left the stadium that night, both in completely different places. Lauren believed she had just been on a pretty amazing first date. When Darryl dropped her off, she was expecting a kiss, and instead was met with "So. Can I take you out on a REAL date sometime?". And so, the relationship we all know and love, took off.
