Things To Do!
New York City
NYC is about a 3 hour drive from the Wedding Venue. You can either take the train from Wilmington Delaware to NYC or drive the Jersey Turnpike. I would recommend seeing 9/11, Time Square, Central Park, Top of the Rock, and walk back down on 5th avenue- all of which can be walked.
Philadelphia
Philly is about an hour from the venue. There is lots of history there. You can see the liberty bell, several museums in Independence Park, stop by one of the several pubs there, and also run up the steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art like Rocky did.
Annapolis
Annapolis is one of my favorite cities to visit. Its about an hour in a half from the venue. Most things are within walking distance, its right on the water, lots of fun restaurant and bars, and the city itself has an old city feel to it. It's also home to the US Naval Academy.
Washington D.C.
If you looking for a great place to sight see, and almost no cost, this is the place! See all the monuments and not to mention all the free museums. There are great places to eat and lots of places to stay.
Chesapeake City
If you are looking for something that's not as busy or that far of a drive then this is your spot. This is a close town near the wedding location. They have cute shops, walking paths by the canal and my favorite restaurant, Chesapeake Inn.
Ocean Beaches
There are several ocean side beaches and boardwalks within driving distance from the venue. The top three I would recommend are Rehoboth Beach, DE- https://www.cityofrehoboth.com/ 2 hours, 49 mins from venue Wildwood, NJ- https://wildwoodsnj.com/ 2 hours, 17 mins from venue Ocean City, MD- https://www.ococean.com/ 2hours, 35 mins from venue
Chesapeake Wine Trail
Maryland is blessed with a little bit of everything, but the one thing they got that you can’t find anywhere else is the heart of the Chesapeake Bay. The bay is home to more than a dozen fantastic wineries on the Chesapeake Wine Trail. Blue Elk Winery (the venue for the wedding) is apart of the wine trail for the bay area. Other wineries include Bordeleau Vineyards and Winery, Broken Spoke Vineyard and Winery, Casa Carmen Wines, Cascia Vineyards & Winery, Chateau Bu-De Vineyards, Crow Vineyard and Winery, Dove Valley Vineyard & Winery, Far Eastern Shore Winery, Faulkner Branch Cidery at Blades Orchard, Great Shoals Cellars, Layton's Chance Vineyard & Winery, St. Michaels Winery and Triple Creek Winery.
Water Experiences & Activities
Board a boat on the bay, bask in the beaches of Ocean City or open yourself to hair-raising feats on the wild rapids of the Potomac River. There is adventure to be found no matter which way you like your water. In fact, sometimes the best part of our water is what surrounds it—from authentic crab houses that define the “hook and cook” experience to historic lighthouses, Instagrammable mountain views and so much more.
Elk Neck State Park
This beach is close to the venue and is a perfect get away for an afternoon trip. There is a beach and hiking trails to Turkey Point Lighthouse. Please check closer to the wedding to make sure the beach/ trails are open as they can close for certain things.
Blue Elk Winery
This is where we will be getting married! Its a winery overlooking the Bohemia River (where we boat frequently). If you would like to do a wine tasting before the wedding or a day or two before/ after, I highly recommend it. You can sit in a horse stable they converted as a private eating area or enjoy your wine taking in the view.
Bay Venture Outfitters
Located on the waterfront of the protected North East Creek, less then three miles from Exit 100 on Interstate 95, Bay Venture Outfitters provides kayak, stand-up paddleboard (SUP), and bike rentals in the town of North East, MD.
