Their story began back in August 2014. Some would say that it was “fate” that they swiped right on each other. However, it would seem that their relationship would be over before it began. A few days later, Michael had to leave for school which was in Denver, Colorado while Darleen stayed in St. Louis, Missouri. Darleen assumed it was a sign that a relationship with Michael could not happen and she “friend zoned” Michael. Fortunately, Michael did not give up in his pursuit of Darleen. Through the next several months, Darleen slowly started to fall for him. Once Michael came home for Christmas break, they officially started dating and they continued to endured long distance for another year and a half. When Darleen meet Michael’s friends, she couldn’t help but laugh when they told her, “Wow you actually exist! Glad to finally meet you!” They also frequently commented their surprise on “how comfortable and happy you both are with each other. It’s as if you had been dating for years instead of months.” Fast forward to December 22nd, 2018 at Darleen’s annual Friendsmas party where Michael decided to ask Darleen to spend the rest of her life with him. Due to a series of events and many of the attendees unaware of Michael’s plan, he was unable to actually propose to Darleen until a little after midnight on December 23rd. Darleen was so shocked that she was left speechless. She’s embarrassed to admit that she had to be told by a friend to “give the poor man an answer already”. Of course she said yes! Planning their big day has not been easy with this pandemic throwing every possible obstacle in their way, but they are both very happy and content with the fact that they will be able to say “I do” on July 25th, 2020. They would like to thank their family and friends that have helped, supported, encouraged, and believed in them from the beginning. They both cannot wait to celebrate with their guest physically and virtually!
