Over the many years our parents have worked at Enloe Medical Center together, they became close friends and attended many parties and social events together. My parents invited Dariane’s family to their wedding in 2016, where Laura and Robert (Dariane’s mom and step-dad) brought along their eldest (handsomest) son. We’ve known each other since 2009 when we attended Marsh Junior High together. Dariane was a cute, 8th grade, skater boy with a streak of dyed white hair, and I was a textbook nerdy pre-teen who wore wire-rimmed glasses and too much lip gloss. We like to think that puberty treated us both fairly well! Surrounded by family, friends, coworkers and too many trips to the open bar, we found ourselves in the middle of the dance floor. We danced together for hours and finished the night with a kiss before Dariane left to return home with his family. To my surprise, he returned 20 minutes later and proclaimed that he didn't want the night to end quite yet. Since that night, we've been inseparable. Today, we live in a sweet studio in Sacramento with our only child, a hairless kitty named Luna, and enjoy going to Tahoe to ski and snowboard together. It was on one of these trips to Tahoe that Dariane popped the question. He scoped out a perfect patio, with a view of the lake from Stateline, NV. It was a clear day with lots of sunshine gleaming on the snowy mountains behind the lake. We decided to take pictures together with the view, when Dariane said he'd take one of me looking at the view. When Dariane said he'd taken the picture and told me to turn around, he was on his knee with the most beautiful ring. The rest is history! We are so lucky to share our love story with so many of our friends and family. We cherish everyone who has fostered our love and encouraged our story to continue on one path. Thank you for spending your day with us and celebrating our story as we move through the world as Mr. and Mrs. Zion.
