We are getting married at The Retreat at Mt. Charleston, which is approximately 1 hour from the iconic Vegas Strip. Prepare to experience a side of Las Vegas you may never have known existed! To learn more about Mt. Charleston, check out this link: https://www.gomtcharleston.com/
At this time, we recommend Uber if you are not renting a car. We are currently looking into other forms of transportation that may be helpful to our honored guests. This answer will be updated with more information soon!
Please consider our wedding semi-formal to formal. And be sure to pack flip flops or flats (or even slippers if you want!) for dancing at the reception!
Mt. Charleston is about an hours drive North of the Las Vegas Strip. Historically, it is 30 DEGREES COOLER (and much greener!) than the blazing desert.
You can expect the weather in Mt. Charleston on Aug 18th to be in the high 80's to low 90's with very little humidity. However, the temperature drops significantly in the evening. Our CEREMONY will be outside, and the RECEPTION will be indoors, with plenty of air conditioning!
Since the bride is a vegetarian herself, food was very carefully considered with people's dietary restrictions and preferences in mind. We will have food stations that feature both meat and vegetarian options. Currently, we are still working out details for vegans. If you have any other concerns regarding food allergies or any other food-related circumstances, please send Daria an email at goldending@icloud.com and put in the subject line YOUR WEDDING QUESTION - FOOD
We understand that the ability or choice to receive a COVID shot may not have been an option for some of our guests. We will also be thoroughly cooperative with any policies or procedures enforced by the venue regarding COVID restrictions. Currently, masks and proof of vaccination are not required to enjoy the location at Mt. Charleston. However, it is understood that circumstances surrounding the pandemic can change at any time, and we will abide by any last minute decisions regarding masks, or vaccination proof and communicate this to our guests accordingly. The health and safety of everyone in attendance is important to us, so if you are experiencing any symptoms on the day of the wedding, we respectfully request you stay home (or in your hotel room), rest, and take care of yourself. We will miss you, but we will understand!
Great question! If you have opted to stay at either the Red Rock Resort or Santa Fe Station, both hotels feature restaurants, movie theaters, bowling, and show rooms with live entertainment. Red Rock Resort is within walking distance of the Down Town Summerlin Shopping Center, as well as the Las Vegas Ball Park. If our Triple A baseball team, the Aviators, are in town, consider popping in for a game! It is also adjacent to the Las Vegas Ice Arena where both the Golden Knights practice. Indoor ice skating with skates for rent are also available. Nature lovers have to check out Red Rock Canyon's scenic loop, although that does require a car to navigate.
We have not officially planned an afterparty.
You sure can! If you drop our name at the front desk when making your reservation (White/Castillo wedding or White0818), you may also receive a 15% discount! DO call ahead as soon as you can, as it is a small lodge with only 60 rooms. The front desk mentioned that tourists tend to book about a week in advance, so the sooner you call to make a reservation, the better.
No, we are not. We apologize for any inconvenience!
Absolutely! The open bar will consist of beer and wine only. Liquor will be available on a cash basis only. Due to the proximity of the venue to local Las Vegas, and for the safety of all, the open bar will close about an hour before the reception ends. The road to Mt. Charleston is long and winding, and can be confusing at night, even for locals who are familiar with the drive. Please drink responsibly, as well as your plan to get safely back to your hotel.
Lisey, the ring bearer, is overwhelmingly adorable (and she knows it - we tell her so every day). She is looking forward to walking down the aisle and showing off her cuteness. However, she is EXTREMELY shy with new people and has a very wide "personal bubble." We've been working hard to show her making new friends is fun, but she is most comfortable with the humans she knows best. We GREATLY understand the temptation to want to reach out and give love to a dog. BUT we also place safety for both our dog and our beloved guests as a top priority. We ask PLEASE, out of respect for our dogs comfort threshold, please DO NOT attempt to pet her or reach out to her.
