Darby and Ernie met in late April of 2023 and clicked instantly. The day they met they talked 9 hours straight and from then on they knew they were meant to be. They went on their first date 2 days later at LongHorn Steakhouse where they talked, laughed, and ultimately fought over who would be paying the bill. They spent the entire day together and were only separated by Darby having work. After her shift, Ernie drove back to Zanesville to see Darby again because they both wanted to see each other and have more time together. 2 days later on May 2nd, 2023, Ernie beat Darby to the punch and asked her to be his girlfriend. From that point forward, Darby and Ernie spent every day together shopping, exploring, driving around, and having fun together. On May 10th, 2023 Darby drove Ernie to the airport to drop him off so he could return to Uncle Sam and infantry training for the Marine Corps. This is one of the hardest things they ever experienced and their relationship went long distance. After 2 months apart, Darby traveled down to see Ernie in Jacksonville, North Carolina and their reunion was a sight of pure love and excitement. During their vacation, on July 2nd, 2023 Ernie proposed to Darby on the River Walk in Wilmington North Carolina with a dazzling gold and diamond ring.
