We met on a plane. We were departed to Atlanta from MCI for different reasons but arrived together. Stephen didn't know that Southwest had open seating and waited until the last minute to board. He quickly observed that middle seats were the only seats were open. After a quick 5 second environment scan, he sat himself next to prettiest girl on the plane. Dara was already curled up next a widow and ready to not pay attention to anyone (Or so she thought). Her comfortable vibes made Stephen fall asleep and miss the flight attendants giving out water. Once Stephen awoke parched from his slumber, he looked left and said jokingly, "why didn't you wake me up for water?". Dara looked confused at first, but then conversated for the rest of the fight. They talked about our favorite places to eat, drink, and dance. That flight led to texting that led to calls that led to dates and dating. Now, our story continues as we chase another departing flight. Together.
Throughout our time dating, we talked about marriage often. With Dara's parents blessings, Stephen took an incognito flight into Kansas City while Dara believed he was at a conference in Orlando - or so he thought. Dara had been collecting clues from her friends and knew something was a about to go DOWN. Stephen surprised her at liberty memorial and proposed in front of friends and family. Stephen has ran to Liberty Memorial many times and always imagined proposing on a sunny fall day. That day was truly "just as imagined".
