September weather in the mountains is notoriously varied. Expect crisp mornings with temperatures often in the 30s or 40s, warming up to beautiful, sunny afternoons in the 60s or 70s. Snow is not unheard of this time of year. The best way to stay comfortable is to pack layers. Bring a mix of t-shirts, sweaters or light fleeces, and a medium-weight jacket for when the sun goes down. The sun is much stronger at high altitudes; remember to pack sunglasses, a hat, and plenty of sunscreen.
We are so excited to celebrate with you at 7,522 feet! Because Estes Park is significantly higher than sea level, the air is thinner and drier. To make sure you feel your best: Stay hydrated and start drinking extra water 24–48 hours before you arrive. Remember that at altitude, one alcoholic drink can feel like two, so we recommend alternating every cocktail with a full glass of water. Also since you're closer to the sun up here, use SPF and lip balm. Finally, if you feel dizzy or short of breath, don't push it! Grab a seat, drink some water, and take it slow.
