Friends Meeting House and the Royal Sonesta are both in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Below are some of our Dupont recommendations:
Don't miss the excellent farmers market in Dupont Circle every Sunday from 8:30am - 1:30pm. This place has everything... Delicious baked goods, fresh fruit and veggies, coffee, hot food, flowers, microgreen herbs that we once spent way too much on and weren't ultimately worth it but are worth sampling.... and it does get crowded!
Awesome bar steps away from Friends Meeting House. Great cocktails and beer selection. However, it is teeny, so don't all try to cram in there for an after party!
Really good sushi and where we first said I love you <3
An incredible consignment store!! Women's/femme clothes only. If you need a new outfit for the wedding, this is the spot!
DC has many amazing museums, including the Smithsonians on the Mall, which are all free. The Phillips Collection is not free, but it is right down the block from the Friends Meeting House, and it is a smaller great art museum.
Absolutely giant sandwiches.
Frankly, Kramers is not as good as the other bookstore on this list, Lost City Books. But it is still a very fun independent bookstore with a restaurant attached (and it's a good place to find a bathroom if you're walking around Dupont).
18th Street is the center of the Adams Morgan neighborhood and is a popular spot for going out. You'll find tons of bars and so many jumbo slice pizza options that the city installed pizza box-sized recycling bins. The strip of bars runs from about Roofers Union to Bar Charley, both of which we'd recommend. The Line Hotel is at the top of 18th Street, and it's just a short walk from the Friends Meeting House. Below are some more 18th Street recs:
Incredible independent bookstore. Don't miss the back room on the second floor, which has romance, mystery, and sci-fi!
Our favorite casual sit-down breakfast spot. We highly recommend the hashbrown squares. Be warned-- your clothes will smell like the Diner after you leave.
A great Middle Eastern bar on 18th Street.
Cool vinyl and skateboard shop. Fun fact: DC had a thriving punk scene in the 60s and 70s, centered in Adams Morgan and Dupont!
Great falafel, but closed on Saturday.
Really cute local shopping next to Oh Mama.
