The Purdue campus is so awesome- you HAVE to walk around here. Take your kids on a fountain run, walk in the steps of the first man on the moon, have a picnic by the engineering fountain, go bowling and play in the arcade in the basement of the union, walk by the bell tower, and take in the beauty of this wonderful school!
Hands down the best food you can get in West Lafayette. Located on Chauncey Hill, this diner has been famous for decades. Menu items are named after famous Purdue athletes and the root beer and strangely very tasty Duane Purvis burger (Peanut Butter burger), are to die for. This restaurant was also featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.
Looking to get a good round of golf in? The Kampen course at the 36-hole Purdue University Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex is where you should head. A Pete Dye design, the Kampen (named in honor of Purdue supporter, Emerson Kampen) is one of the nation's top collegiate courses, which measures more than 7,400 yards from the tips.
If you are the more outdoorsy type and are looking for a good park, this is the one. The park's landscape contains vast tall prairie grass and deep forests with winding trails. Native American people hunted and lived along the two rivers that border this park for thousands of years. The park is named for a Native American village established by Chief Tecumseh, the same Native American that Camp Tecumseh (where Danny and Rachel met) was named after. The Tippecanoe battle took place here between Native Americans and colonizers in 1811. Filled with great trails, camping, a water park, and the Battleground memorial, this is a must-do if you are looking for an outdoor adventure.
