“I am looking for necessities and entertainment, but want to stay close to the hotel” We suggest the Zona Rosa area! At less than a 10 minute drive from the hotel, you have access to restaurants, shopping, hair and nail salons, amc theater and even a bowling alley and entertainment center. We recommend Bravo! for a casual American Italian meal and have heard great things about Ixtapa’s authentic Mexican food. The Big Biscuit offers an expansive brunch.
“I came all the way to Kansas City, so I want to see something uniquely Kansas City!” For the quintessential KC experience, we suggest the Country Club Plaza! Inspired by Seville, Spain, this walkable area offers lovely architecture and fountains, upscale shopping, and some of KC’s best restaurants. We recommend everything! Our favorites are Rye (offers dinner and brunch), Jack Stack BBQ, Chuy’s Tex Mex, and the Classic Cup for lighter fare. The Made in KC Marketplace store carries lots of local brands and KC swag.
The Saturday morning farmer’s market in Kansas City is amazing! Located in the River Market area, it is an energizing space to walk through, with an outdoor market surrounded by unique local stores, and they always have fresh flowers! We recommend Betty Rae’s Ice Cream, The Phoenix for brunch and jazz, or simply let your nose guide you through the market!
For something more mellow and artsy, try the Crossroads Area. This area is full of great artwork and murals, with creative and affordable food options. Places we particularly enjoy: Clay and Fire (Turkish food), Up-Down (arcade bar), Grünauer (german food), Parlor (a fancy and fun food court), and Baramae Thai!
Located in the Crossroads area, The Green Lady Lounge and Blue Dolphin offer some of the city’s best live jazz. They are both right next to each other and are surrounded by highly rated restaurants and bars. You can’t go wrong.
