Unbeknownst to Maham, the Theisens' annual 4th of July celebration was going to have a few extra fireworks this year! As the sun began to set and people settled in for the show, Eman was busy helping Maham do her nails and get extra dressed up “ just for fun”. Once Maham was dressed and ready, she went down to the dock and joined the family on their pontoon boat to sail out and watch the show. The fireworks were spectacular, and as the entire lake cheered and the final rockets faded into the night sky, Uncle Mike’s refined MC voice suddenly rippled across the lake’s PA system: “Now, if you could please direct your attention to the center of the lake for a special presentation”. Secret LED lights placed on the boat bloomed into a velvety purple glow and Zionsville (Danny and Maham’s song) began to play over the PA system. Maham’s bewilderment slowly melted into tears of joy as Danny gestured for her to come stand with him at the center of the boat. Danny told her “the fireworks are nice, but nothing lights up my life like you do,” and then, surrounded by family and loved ones, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Maham enthusiastically agreed. As the couple embraced, Danny’s step-father, Bob, used a walkie-talkie linked to the PA system to announce “She said yes!” which triggered a second set of reserve fireworks to immediately burst into the sky. As the lights faded away, the family sailed to home where they were joined by friends, family, and plenty of celebration!
