It was a rainy Monday night as Hurricane Florence was about to make landfall in North Carolina. Kelly had one day off as tech for her show was taking place all weekend and the following week looked as though UNC would be shutting down because of the hurricane. Exhausted from tech she agreed to me with this boy she had been talking to between scenes all weekend on Tinder. That boy was Danny. They meet up at Lynnwood Brewing Concern in Raleigh for a few drinks and hit it off almost immediately. Danny had only just moved to NC about a month prior and was simply looking for someone to play board games with. Well, he didn’t get a board game friend in Kelly, but he did get a forever partner in so many other ways. After the first date, they continued to talk. Kelly decided to ride out the hurricane in D.C. with friends, meanwhile, with Danny being a Florida native, he didn’t think anything of the hurricane and stayed in NC. They meet up in rainy Durham almost a week after the first date for a second one. It was way too rainy and probably not safe to drive, but it was worth it. And they have been together ever since. They continue to go to Lynwood every year on their anniversary and it was the perfect place for Danny to propose on Kelly’s 30th birthday. They are so grateful to have had their engagement photos taken there to commemorate their favourite special place. P.s. Danny is still looking for board game friends in NC so hit him up.
