It is officially black tie optional! We'd love to see formal-wear with a creative edge. We will be in a castle, so it might be worth it to bust out a gown, a well tailored suit, and definitely something creative and full of life. Bring flats or a chunky heel because we will be in a garden!
The best way is either by foot, by rental car, or by Uber. Uber tends to be less expensive than Bolt in our experience. There is some public transportation in Sintra, but if you only have a day to see a few different castles, I'd recommend having a rental car.
Definitely take advantage of their public transit and walking options! No need to rent a car in the big city.
Bring layers and a mix of formal and upscale casual wear. The hills of Sintra are steep and it often rains in the late morning, so walking shoes that can get wet would be a great idea along with a light wind breaker, long sleeves, a cozy sweater, and lighter clothing for warmer afternoons.
Expect it to be chilly in the morning, warm in the afternoon with a chance of rain, and moderate in the early evening, and a bit chilly again by nightfall.
I’d recommend finding a bed and breakfast or AirBnb in Sintra. If you’re planning to spend most of your time in Lisbon, I’d recommend getting a rental car at least for driving to and from the ceremony.
