Danny first saw Kin in the Spring of 2018. They had a few mutual friends who thought it would be nice if they met at an upcoming wedding. Danny heavily disagreed and Kin was none the wiser. Somehow, they found themselves seated next to each other at the wedding reception. Danny, who grew up upholstering and crafting custom furniture, was intrigued by Kin's choice of dress. It was made of material that he often used on sofas. He also thought she was cute. Kin found Danny intriguing as well, as he swayed, doing "The Carlton" to the tune of Tom Jones. Surprisingly, it was not unusual to her. After they had dined, conversed, and laughed together, Danny was convinced he had to keep in contact with Kin. And so he tried to maintain a line of communication with her for months. There were a lot of 'read' messages with no response, or "I'm busy" and other conversation stoppers. Kin was playing it cool. Why he kept trying? Nobody knows. He continued to check on her, to visit once in a while, and eventually, Kin finally opened her heart. She struggled, though, to find a balance between her busy life and their long-distance relationship. Despite the time difference, Danny sacrificed many hours of sleep just to have a few hours of Kin's day, and he patiently stayed by her side. He was content with the simplest of dates. As he often told her: "I can't wait to sit and hold your hand in traffic." This helped to ease Kin's worries because she too enjoyed their time together no matter how mundane the activity was. Then came the pandemic, which wasn't easy for them, but they still chose to find joy in what they had and what they could do together. They carried on with their weekly family worship, movie dates over face time, and spontaneous phone calls. Then in August 2021, they were finally reunited on the island of Kauai, where Danny surprised Kin with a proposal. An end to Danny's happy, uphill battle is drawing to a close, and Kin & Danny's adventures are about to begin.
