These are our favorite neighborhoods/hills in all of Valparaiso. Valparaiso is an historic port town with history dating back to the Spanish colonial area. Before the construction of the Panama Canal, this was the most significant stopover for ships rounding Cape Horn before heading north to Lima and San Francisco. History oozes throughout these charming cobblestone streets and colorful Victorian-era houses. Ride the funiculars and explore! This is blended with contemporary graffiti from artists visiting from all over the globe, like Banksy. It is a UNESCO world heritage site worth visiting for a day. We'd recommend visiting these two hills as they are the clear highlights. *Please use common-sense caution after dusk. Casablanca Valley is Chilean wine country and within less than an hour drive from Viña del Mar. Our favorite vineyard in the area is Emiliana Vineyards- A sustainable vineyard with gardens and farm animals like the Alpaca, Kyle's spirit animal! This a biodynamic vineyard that offers picnics, tastings and tours. Try the delicious Pinot Noir or Carmenere, a wine unique to Chile! There are many great vineyards in the Casablanca Valley... Casas del Bosque Indomita Casona Veramonte La Recova *For beer lovers, ask Kyle for recommendations. *Getting there- Drive with designated driver! Book a tour Take an Uber

A great place for locally caught seafood on the water. Try the machas a la parmesana (baked razor claims with cheese and white wine), pastel de jaiba (baked crab and cheese), or chupe de mariscos (boiled shellfish stew)!

Bohemian vibes at this delicious and trendy Cerro Alegre restaurant. Great views of Valparaiso Bay. Many other 'artsy' restaurants nearby. Take the Reina Victoria Funicular (1903) up or down the hill for a uniquely Valparaiso experience. Also, enjoy the slide (for children and adults) next door!
Rooftop views atop the tallest skyscraper in Latin America afford views of the Andes Mountains (on a clear day) and modern Santiago. Nearby Las Condes and Providencia neighborhoods offer many upscale restaurants.
This was the highlight of Kyle's family during their trip to Chile. The couple who own the property are friendly and the horses are very well taken care of. This horseback ride is truly unique as you get the freedom of riding without a guide through Eucalyptus forest, sand dunes, and open beach. Picture is of Kyle's mom and sister.
For nature and adventure travelers- this is a great way to immerse yourself in the majesty of the Andes Mountains. Think Colorado Rockies but higher! This is a short drive from Santiago where you can white water raft, hike and enjoy the natural hot springs.
DISCLAIMER- PICHILEMU IS 3+ HOUR DRIVE FROM VINA DEL MAR AND 3 HOURS FROM SANTIAGO Surf City, Chile! This town has the best surf in all of Chile (and South America). Check out the famous Punta de Lobos point break, which is widely considered one of the best left hand point breaks in the world. Other notable mentions: El Infernillo and La Puntilla. Bring your semi-gun and 4/3 wetsuit.
Beautiful sandy beach for a calmer scene away from the summertime hustle of Viña del Mar and Reñaca. Laid-back beach town with a consistent beach break for surfing. Try the local empanadas. We'd recommend taking a round trip road trip from Vina del Mar to Zapallar ( E-30-F highway).
