Cerro Concepcion & Cerro Alegre Neighborhoods- Valparaiso

Cerro Concepcion & Cerro Alegre Neighborhoods- Valparaiso

Cerro Concepcion Abatao 675, Valparaíso, Valparaíso, Chile

These are our favorite neighborhoods/hills in all of Valparaiso. Valparaiso is an historic port town with history dating back to the Spanish colonial area. Before the construction of the Panama Canal, this was the most significant stopover for ships rounding Cape Horn before heading north to Lima and San Francisco. History oozes throughout these charming cobblestone streets and colorful Victorian-era houses. Ride the funiculars and explore! This is blended with contemporary graffiti from artists visiting from all over the globe, like Banksy. It is a UNESCO world heritage site worth visiting for a day. We'd recommend visiting these two hills as they are the clear highlights. *Please use common-sense caution after dusk. Chile is considered the #1 safest country in Latin America and in the top 30 in the world- Global Peace Index 2019. Pick pocketing is more of an issue here than in the U.S. Please be careful with your belongings at all times when exploring.

Casablanca Valley Vineyards

Casablanca Valley Vineyards

This a biodynamic vineyard that offers picnics, tastings and tours. Try the delicious Pinot Noir or Carmenere, a wine unique to Chile! There are many great vineyards in the Casablanca Valley... Bring your semi-gun and 4/3 wetsuit.

Maitencillo Beach

Maitencillo Beach

Beautiful sandy beach for a calmer scene away from the summertime hustle of Viña del Mar and Reñaca. Laid-back beach town with a consistent beach break for surfing. Try the local empanadas. We'd recommend taking a round trip road trip from Vina del Mar to Zapallar ( E-30-F highway).
