We initially bonded over mutual admiration of “30 Rock”. Rob’s casual familiarity with most TV shows was enough to somewhat keep up with Danielle’s encyclopedic knowledge of the Tina Fey classic. Our first date began at San Francisco’s How Weird Festival. Anyone familiar with both of us and the festival knows that this was a poor choice on Rob’s part. We quickly abandoned the EDM-infused moving piercing gallery to walk along the waterfront. Later we had dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant. We would return there every year for our anniversary. We said “I love you” for the first time on Halloween. Danielle was dressed as an alien. Rob thought she looked “out of this world.” It was not long before we moved into Danielle’s tiny apartment. The apartment may have been small, but this was a small price to pay to have an authentic Chinese fish market down the block and our doorstep serve as the bus stop for the daily shuttle to the Graton Casino. Our favorite activities here were lazy Saturday mornings, walking in Golden Gate Park, and complaining about the weather. We moved to Orange County when Rob was accepted at UCI. Danielle was happy to live somewhere with sunshine, chain restaurants, and proximity to Disneyland. As the pandemic got under way, we bought our first home. It was here that Danielle discovered her love of gardening and Rob discovered his love of WD-40. At the beginning of 2021, we ventured to Northern California to acquire a four-legged petri dish named Olive. This inbred abomination (English Bulldog) would steal our hearts, along with our time, money, and self-respect. On June 5, Rob took Danielle to dinner at A Restaurant. That’s not just a restaurant, but A Restaurant. It was here that Rob finally popped the question. Danielle did her best to act surprised by a ring she had picked out months before.
