FAQs

We've had a few questions from folks so far. Let's try to cover a few things that you can't find on those other pages:
Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Try to get to Wolfe's Neck Woods by 1pm. We would like to start at 1:30p. We let the park know that guests would be arriving at 12:30p. Please be down at the location by 1:15p, but feel free to show up early to do some wandering. It is a beautiful spot with plenty of trails.

Question

Do you have a shuttle set up for the reception?

Answer

We do not have a shuttle service for the reception. Due to the limited number of guests and those transporting their children, this was not feasible for us. Please be responsible at MBC; work together to carpool and find your designated driver. We will be providing plenty of food at the reception and will be there for three hours. Use your time wisely to stay sober or sober up if you are responsible for driving. If attending the after party, consider using an Uber, public transportation, or walking if you will be drinking.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

BRING LAYERS. The weather is extremely variable here. Friday's high says 84 when you look on Thursday, but you check again Friday morning and it's 62? Maybe vice versa? Maybe the high says 70, but then it ends up being 80 as you get through the day. Expect to be cold AND hot all within an hour. BRING A RAIN JACKET & UMBRELLA. Expect to get wet, even if there is 0% chance of rain. FRIDAY: CEREMONY & RECEPTION. Summer cocktail attire is appreciated -- look good, but relax. Button-downs without ties, broken suits, even chino shorts. Dresses. And again, sandals will be acceptable for everyone. Tide will be out and you can do some exploring in that hour between the ceremony and reception. SATURDAY: SAIL & GATHERING. Wear whatever you want but brunch attire preferred. Again, bring layers. We will still sail if there is a little rain. If there is a lot of wind, you may be cold. If there is no wind, you may be hot.

Question

Can I bring my pup?

Answer

While pups are allowed in all locations aside from the sail, please keep the fur babies at home for the weekend. Even we will be boarding Salish, as we do have some guests who are uncomfortable with dogs.

Question

I have a few other plans while I am in town Saturday; am I expected to stay at the backyard gathering the entire time?

Answer

We set up the gathering at Beaver Canal Sanctuary as a casual place to gather and say thank you/farewell to everyone. Feel free to drop by for five minutes, an hour, a few hours. Whatever you need to do. Just respect our beginning and end time (2-6p), as we are trying to manage a wedding weekend, a lot of visitors to our home, and two little ones.

Question

Should I bring anything to the backyard gathering?

Answer

We will be providing food and beverages. Feel free to bring anything you want to bring, but we should be all set! We do recommend mosquito prevention, and if you have an extra chair in your car you could bring it. We expected this would be more of a stand-around-and-socialize type of event but recognize some people are able and willing to sit down more often than us.

Question

Do you need help with anything?

Answer

Probably! Life is wild with an infant, a three year old, and a big clumsy dog. We don't even know how we manage, especially on top of preparing a wedding and a gathering at our home.., So check in with us to see if we need help or if there was a specific task you were thinking you could help with. Here are some things we would love to delegate. If interested, we will connect you with our wedding coordinator (Yes, that is Kate, Max's sister). +Setting up early in the day Friday at Wolfe's Necks Woods SP to organize flowers and signage and also "secure" the spot. However, if strangers want to be part of the wedding, we welcome them. +Helping with Milo and Leo Friday morning +Someone has to help Danielle unbutton 100 buttons every time Milo needs to nurse.... +Getting champagne and food over to Portland Schooner Co/The Timberwind by 10am Saturday morning. We have up to two cases of drinks and drinkware that need to go over. Brenda is picking up the bakery treats and other food. Remember, we have the little ones to also get ready and need to check out of our hotel prior to the sail. Assisting with the items or the little ones would be a helpful alternative as well +Helping take all items/trash from the boat back to Beaver Canal Sanctuary +Grilling and other food prep at the backyard gathering +Baby holding; toddler entertainment. +Clean up after gathering
