Funchal Airport (officially Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport)
If you are interested in being close to the venue, we recommend staying in or close to Santana. Other beautiful areas on the island include: Funchal, São Martinho, Ponta do Sol, Porto Moniz and Calheta.
We recommend renting a car if you are planning on exploring more of the island, but public transportation is available. While Uber is not available, Madeira does have local taxi services. Bolt (Uber's European equivalent) is available on the island; however, its service is limited.
There is limited space at the hotel where our ceremony & reception will take place. We have created a list of other hotels nearby in the area, which can be found under "Travel". Alternatively, there are plenty of Airbnb's close by for your own private space.
Taxis will be available at the end of the evening - timing is TBD. If guests are choosing to stay in Funchal (roughly 40min away from the venue) we can set up a shuttle service. Please let us know!
Madeira in August enjoys warm, sunny weather, making it a great time to visit. Here's what you can expect: Daytime highs: ~26-30°C (79-86°F) Nighttime lows: ~20-24°C (68-75°F) Expect hot days, warm evenings, and generally dry conditions with plenty of sunshine.
The ceremony will be held outside at Quinta do Furao's viewpoint, with the reception to be held under a covered tent, and dancing in the hotel's pub.
We will be hosting a pre-ceremony cocktail at 5:00pm. Please arrive anytime after 4:45pm. The ceremony will begin at 5:30pm.
No - our reception will be buffet style with plenty of options for all dietary restrictions.
Welcome Dinner BBQ Dress Code: For the BBQ, think relaxed summer vacation: casual, comfortable, and easy. Linen, sundresses, shorts, polos, sandals, and breezy outfits are all perfect. We want everyone to feel comfortable and ready to enjoy a laid-back evening together, especially if the weather is warm. Wedding Dress Code: For the wedding, we are going for formal, but still beachy and island friendly. Think dresses, linen suits, dress shirts, slacks, and elevated summer fabrics. Lighter colours are encouraged! Ties are optional. We also recommend comfortable shoes, block heels, or wedges, as there may be some uneven outdoor surfaces.
