Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Danielle Kirchoff and Hunter McAdams
We're so excited to share some of our favorite places in the area with you. Some things to do and see in DC include: the White House, Washington Monument (you can book a tour to go up the monument on a first come first serve basis online each day), Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian Museums (and National Zoo), the Kennedy Center (for shows and musical performances), the Capitol building, Library of Congress, and Supreme Court. Most museums and historical exhibits are free. You can also schedule a tour of the White House and/or Capitol through your state representative(s). If you're more of an outdoors person, we encourage you to check out Rock Creek Park (DC/MD), the National Arboretum (DC), the Washington National Cathedral Gardens (DC), Theodore Roosevelt Island (VA), and Great Falls Park (VA).

Le Diplomate

1601 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 332-3333

French cuisine, very Parisian atmosphere.

Cafe Milano

3251 Prospect Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20007
, (202) 333-6183

This restaurant is fancy (in our opinion) and is recommended for those hoping to see some celebrities or Washington elites while slurping down some delicious pasta.

Call Your Mother – Georgetown

3428 O Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20007
, (202) 853-3653

This is one of our favorite quick-stop breakfast spots. They specialize in bagels, but also have great pastries and coffee.

Martin's Tavern

1264 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20007
, (202) 333-7370

This is a historic restaurant in Georgetown with pretty good Euro-American cuisine. Pay attention to the booths inside as many have plaques noting where something important happened (i.e. JFK proposing to Jackie).

The Potter's House

1658 Columbia Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 232-5483

This was our FAVORITE breakfast spot when we lived in Adams Morgan. The cafe which serves breakfast and lunch also doubles as a book store. Potter's house is a non-profit that works to feed the homeless community in DC. Customers are welcome to participate in a routine donation to cover the meals of a homeless person or can pay it forward at the register for a meal that day.

Al Volo Osteria

1790 Columbia Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 758-0759

Italian restaurants are a controversial topic in DC, but we tend to agree that Al Volo Osteria is the best we've had so far. Caruso's Grocery and Il Canale are two additional Italian restaurants that are often recommended by DC foodies and are still good options (but slightly more expensive and over-hyped).

Hank's Oyster Bar

701 Wharf Street Southwest, Washington, DC 20024
, (202) 817-3055

Definitely recommend stopping for seafood while in DC! Hanks and The Salt Line in Navy Yard are two popular spots for seafood and riverfront views.

Good Company Doughnuts & Cafe

672 North Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22203
, (703) 243-3000

Best doughnuts in Northern Virginia!

Lupo Verde

1401 T Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 827-4752

Another great Italian restaurant! This restaurant is perfect for a date night and is a little more pricey. We recommend sitting on the patio if the weather is nice (this is where Hunter and Danielle went right after Hunter proposed). Want something more laid back? Try their pizzeria right next door!

Jack Rose Dining Saloon

2007 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 588-7388

This is for whiskey lovers! Check out the cozy bar and restaurant that has thousands of bottles of whiskey in stock. The perfect place for a night cap!

The Green Zone

2226 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 579-9606

This bar is named after the international zone in Baghdad and is a way to denote that that this is a safe space for people to be themselves. The bar is known for combining modern craft cocktails and mixology with the flavors of the Middle East. You will need a reservation for this spot!
