Question

What should I do in my free time before and after the wedding activities?

Answer

Whatever your heart desires! Please check out the "Things To Do" tab on this site for ideas on how to make the most of your time in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia area). Please note that the bride and groom look forward to celebrating with you, but will require time to set up and prepare for the weekend's activities. Guests are encouraged to plan their own activities in between events.

Question

How can I get around the DC area?

Answer

Please review the "Travel" tab on this site for more information on public transportation near your stay. There is plenty of public transportation in DC and surrounding Virginia and Maryland neighborhoods. If it is your first time in the area and you prefer to use public transportation, you will need to purchase a metro card (less than $5) which can be used on the DC metro (train) and buses. The metro extends from downtown DC to Virginia and Maryland. If you prefer driving, please consider renting a vehicle during your stay or using rideshare apps such as Uber and Lyft. You can utilize the maps feature on your phone to provide both driving and public transportation directions to your desired destination.

Question

What are the COVID guidelines like in the DC area?

Answer

Life has mostly returned to normal, but some restaurants and show venues may still ask for proof of vaccination. We encourage guests to carry a copy of their vaccination card (can be a photo on their phone) on their person at all times just in case. Guests are welcome to wear masks during the weekend's events if desired for personal protection. As much as we look forward to celebrating with you, please stay home if you are sick. We want to ensure that this is a safe and fun weekend for everyone!

Question

How can I get home from the wedding venue on May 6th?

Answer

We are working on securing transportation for all guests who will need it after the wedding reception on May 6th. Please be sure to fill out all of the questions when you RSVP so we may ensure that we have enough transportation for all guests to return home safely. We will likely utilize party buses to drop off guests spending the night in Maryland near the venue and the DC area (one stop in Arlington where guests can either continue the celebrations or return home). We are providing this option as there are limited transportation services near the venue especially late at night (including Ubers and Lyfts). However, guests are expected to arrange their own transportation to the venue ahead of the reception.

Question

How long should I stay?

Answer

As long as you would like! Guests are expected to be at the wedding venue from 4:30 to around 11PM on Saturday, May 6th. There is also an optional brunch on Sunday, May 7th. Guests can stay for the weekend or extend their trip to go sightseeing in the DC area. Please note that the bride and groom will still be working during the week leading up to the wedding weekend, and aim to depart for their honeymoon the evening of Sunday, May 7th.

Question

Is the venue pet-friendly?

Answer

Are you really surprised? Hunter and Danielle are major animal lovers and welcome your furry friends as guests (meals not included). However, we would like to remind guests that they will need to care for their pets throughout the evening which may take away from dancing time! We also ask that guests do not bring pets who have behavioral issues such as frequent barking, biting, or jumping (not ready to get paw prints on the white dress).

Question

What will the weather be like? What if there is inclement weather?

Answer

Early May can go either way in the DC area. Please expect daytime temperatures between 50-75 degrees. We recommend spring dresses and light suits for the wedding, but encourage guests to bring jackets and/or shawls as needed in case of cooler temperatures. The venue is almost entirely outside, but we will have a tent set up rain or shine and the dancing area will be mostly covered as well. Please also keep in mind that if it is a rainy weekend, the grass may be wet and muddy (this is a farm after all). Guests are welcome to bring rain boots or comfortable shoes as desired (but make it fashion). Please also be sure to wear sunscreen and/or bring sun protection in case it turns out to be a very sunny day.

Question

Do I get a plus one?

Answer

While we would so love to spend time with your romantic partner or friend, we will not have the capacity to grant each guest a plus one for this event. Only guests who receive an invitation designating a plus one will be able to bring their partner to the wedding.

Question

What if I don't know anyone?

Answer

Hunter and Danielle have put a tremendous amount of love and thought into the guest list for this event. Our guests include family and friends who are educators, doctors, caregivers, civil servants, athletes, and so on. We are fortunate to know a lot of interesting people who are equally interested in getting to know you! This weekend will be all about love and joy, so please don't worry about feeling left out. And if all else fails, there will be wine and lots of dessert.
