Being part of the same mutual friend circle you are bound to cross paths, while neither of us can pin point the exact day we officially met, we can both agree on the day that made the biggest impact and changed our lives for the better! I was going to meet some friends at Mohegan Sun, I thought it was going to be the small group that was originally planned on but in true Jing fashion (mutual friend) he invited some of his other friends we didn't know as well and there was Brian. At first there wasn't much that stuck out as we conquered the slot machines as a group. But when we were the only two to have lost at gambling instead of winning and too cheap to try again, I knew we were kindred spirits. Testing our luck to see how similar we were and my new discovery of hating losing money, I proposed we all went to the arcade instead. When he excitedly agreed, it caught my attention. Of course that spark of attention did not stop me from destroying him in air hockey and after we began dating it became a ritual to play air hockey in every new state we enter (I still hold the most championships over him, let the record show) After winning some cheesy prizes on over priced tickets our day was winding to an end but my interest was just beginning. I invited him to our Game of Thrones viewing party and he friended me on facebook then started to like every photo I posted (ah new age romance) but I knew at that point he had interest as well. While we started communicating, he bragged of this Avocado shake, going as far to name it the drink of the Gods, and proposed we meet up so I can experience its greatness and of course, visit an arcade after. At this point neither of us knew if it was date or could fathom it was truly the start of a beautiful love story. But despite me being late to our "date" as I was rescuing a mouse (a whole other story) which he graciously accepted, and I knew right then he could handle my love for animals, we haven't looked back since.
We kind of met on accident. Our mutual friend Jing invited a whole bunch of us out to a Halloween walk through Haunted Overload. Being a horror junkie, and a fan of fall weather, I simply couldn't turn something like that down. We didn't really acknowledge each other this night, but I remember the screams of horror as Jing pushed her to the front of each and every scare zone. It's a memory that I am certain I hold in a higher esteem than Danielle. Fast forward in time and a few other occasions of being around each other but not really realizing it, the year was 2016. I had just been through the ringer of trying to buy myself a home of my own, but had a bad experience so I backed out. Here comes Jing again with an invite to the Mohegan Sun Casino. Wouldn't you know it, Danielle was there again. As we walked around, about half the group wanted to play some poker. As both an introvert and not a huge fan of gambling, I opted on staying on the floor and trying my hand at some slots. This is where we really started to blossom our friendship at the time. Danielle made it no secret that she is a fan of cats, and I had seen a cat slot machine earlier! My new objective was to find that damn cat slot machine at all costs. Probably 2 hours of aimless wandering, two other friends winning $70+ on one slot attempt, and a lot of getting to know each other, we found the grail. We've never lost $20 so fast, but what we gained was worth so much more. A few weeks later I convinced Danielle to try an avocado shake after vouching for it super hard at another meeting we all had as a group in between. She was late to the first 1:1 because she was saving a baby mouse. Her compassion with that, as well as her skills at air hockey, and the fact that she recommended to go to an arcade after dinner really made me confirm my suspicions that she was special. I told my friend Sasha that Danielle was really cool after the casino that day, but it turns out that she was so much more to me.
