We met at OSU during our first year in grad school. At first, Daniella found him to be a bit brash, but then warmed up to him and they quickly became good friends. We bonded over common interests in music, like video game soundtracks. Daniella broadened his musical palette with bluegrass music, and Franz introduced her to Studio Ghibli films. After spending most of spring break binge watching Game of Thrones, we realized we actually liked each other more than just friends, and it all fell into place from there!
On July 10, 2022, Daniella thought they were on their way to their friend's "wedding rehearsal lunch" (even though their wedding was 2 months out!) at the Antrim 1855 in Taneytown, MD. Although our friends had mentioned it was a formal event, Daniella was surprised that no one was actually as dressed up as she and Franz were (weird, but that day wasn't about me, right?) AND a photographer was there to take pictures of the event (again, weird, but okay...). Pretending to be a bridesmaid, Daniella helped "time" the wedding entrance. We were both at the altar when our friend Jimmy started playing Daniella's favorite song on the violin, which Daniella thought the bride-to-be had requested him to play (it was Daniella's top choice too, so Franz was definitely going to hear about this on the way back home lol). All of a sudden, Franz gets down on one knee and asked her to marry him! After many tears and repeating "what's happening?!" many times in a high-pitched voice, Daniella said yes! To her surprise, all her good friends and parents were there on Zoom to watch it all! Not to mention the ones that had made it there in person to watch it all happen too! *Fun fact: Most of the pictures you see on our website were from that day! And yes, we took our dogs along with us cause they go anywhere we go :)
After 6 years of being together (and spending the 2020 quarantine without killing each other lol), we are finally getting married! We chose Key West because it holds a special place in Daniella's heart — she's been traveling there to visit family since she was 5 years old! — and because warm, tropical places are objectively better (this is our favorite topic of debate with friends). We can't wait to spend the weekend with you all down in the Florida Keys! Get ready for island-time bliss!
