Daniel and I met in Manhattan, KS during the summer of 2015. I was in tears on the phone with my mom about how I was having such trouble finding a job. Through some connections, my mom was able to get me hired at Arby’s! I walked in on my first day, and one of the very first things I noticed was a head sticking out above the microwaves and cabinets in the back kitchen. I thought to myself, "Wow, that guy is super tall." But the real shock came when I turned and saw his face. Not only was this guy super tall, he was also adorably handsome and had the sweetest smile! I was smitten almost instantly. We began talking while at work and found out that we had a lot in common too! We had been working together for about two weeks when I saw that we would be getting off work at the same time. I offered him a ride home, and when I dropped him off at his apartment he asked me to coffee! Of course I said yes! It was hard for me to stop smiling after he left, and all of my closest friends were of course notified immediately! Our first date was on July 17th, 2015. We met at Bluestem Bistro to get coffee. We hit it off immediately, and talking to him was so easy, like I was with someone I'd known my whole life. After coffee, we decided to go for a stroll through City Park while we kept talking. With every word he said, I liked him more and more. Our date ended at Bi Bim Bap, an Asian restaurant in Aggieville. We shared appetizers and continued talking until the restaurant closed. The night had been absolutely perfect, and both of us agreed that we would love to go on another date. Needless to say, we both fell head over heels. We became "official" after just one week of dating, and exchanged the words "I love you" after a month and a half. Now here we are, three and a half years later! We are so in love and cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives figuring out new ways to love one another!
In December of this past year, I decided to make a trip up to Colorado to visit Daniel so that we could spend New Year's Eve together. Daniel and I had an ongoing joke that I wanted him to propose to me before 2019. I had sneaky suspicions that he might propose while I was visiting since the end of the year was approaching, but once I got there he was acting so normal that I actually ended up convincing myself that it wasn't going to happen! I won't lie, I was disappointed at first, but I still wanted to make the best of the trip! On NYE, the two of us and some friends all went to a very nice 80's themed party at a restaurant/bar called ViewHouse in Denver. The buffet was stocked with any fancy food you could think of, there was a live rock band called "The Goonies," and scenes from famous 80's movies played on a large projector. Party-goers had their hair teased to the gods, were decked out in neon and fingerless gloves, and I counted an extensive amount of tube socks. We danced, ate, toasted, and overall just had a great time celebrating the new year! When the countdown began, Daniel pulled me over to the side of the restaurant/bar area. He said to me "I have something for you." Then he pulled an envelope out of his jacket pocket that contained a ring! He knelt down, popped the question, and I was in such excitement and shock that I couldn't find any words! He stood up, hugged me, and said, "Is that a yes?" And I quickly shouted back to him, "YES!" Then, in true Daniel fashion, he told me, "You said you wanted to get engaged by 2019, so I waited until the last ten seconds of 2018." I laughed, and everyone around us started to clap and cheer. I can't imagine a better way to "ring" in the new year! We are both so excited to get married and cannot wait to have you all celebrate with us!
