Less than 30 minutes from Carlsbad, this is one of our favorite weekend morning spots to roam for a few hours. If it's your first time visiting- definitely plan for a whole day, the safari park is HUGE and it's all worth seeing.
The zoo is a little farther from Carlsbad than the safari park, but the San Diego Zoo is worth the trip- They have PANDAS!

One of our secret pre-engagement dates was here, and then we never left. All the pottery decor and wedding favors were made here. They offer a beginner-friendly "Coffee and Clay" class on Saturday and Sunday mornings if anyone wants to try it out!
