While both working for the same English language company in Thailand we lived at the same guesthouse sharing many mutual friends from across the world. One day we fell asleep side by side after a big night out and began taking afternoon naps during the hot, sleepy days of Thai heat. After a couple of months we realized there was more to each other than a really good snooze partner. From there we travelled all across Thailand, met Dan's family in England, had an Eastern European adventure and then came to Rossland B.C., to live and work. Dan fell in love with the mountains as we enjoyed 2 years of skiing and biking. We then we did a big South East Asian trip before moving Vietnam for a few years of teaching. After a lot of hard work, Dan is now a permanent resident of Canada and we have settled down to begin the next chapter of our lives together!

On possibly the last sunny, snowless Saturday of the year, Dan insisted we take a short hike up Kootenay Columbia (KC) Mountain. An unenthused Sara begrudgingly agreed after some coaxing (she was tired!). It was well worth the hike as we arrived at the top with no one around, Dan got down on one knee overlooking Rossland and asked Sara to marry him. The easiest "yes".
