Our Favorite Spots
Cloud Gate
More commonly known as The Bean and a key component of Rachel and Dan’s first ever conversation, this sculpture is one of the things that made Rachel fall in love with Chicago.
Lincoln Park Zoo
Dan’s favorite place in Chicago – our free zoo right in the middle of Lincoln Park. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Japanese Macaques, Rachel and Dan’s favorites.
Chinatown
Wander through Chinatown Square Plaza, a 2-story outdoor mall full of snacks, goodies, and treats. Check out Dan’s favorite, MCCB, for a meal and then stop by Rachel’s favorite, MangoMango, for dessert.
Lakefront Trail
This 18.5-mile path offers some of the best views in the city and is a favorite walk for Rachel and Dan. There are many entrances to the path, some are tunnels that go under Lake Shore Drive. As you go, keep an eye out for the sculptures that decorate the path along the way.
North Pond
The site of Rachel and Dan’s proposal and a favorite after-work walking spot, tucked right around the corner from their apartment.
Chicago Riverwalk
Along the Chicago River, pathway for walking, sitting, enjoying the views, and stopping for a coffee, ice cream, or cocktail.
The Art Institute of Chicago
Right by the Bean, make sure to go downstairs to check out Rachel’s favorite part of the Museum: the Miniature Rooms. Not free, but is worth it!
Architecture River Tour
If the sun is shining, take a tour with the Chicago Architecture Center to learn about and see the city’s beauty from the Chicago River. Dan took Rachel on this tour during her first trip to Chicago! Not free, but worth it!
Red Light Chicken
A quick, easy, and delicious chicken sandwich. Rachel and Dan both recommend the Hot and Honey.
MCCB Chicago
The best Chinese food in Chicago. Rachel’s favorite are the Szechuan Style Green Beans. Dan’s favorites are the Signature Dry Chili Chicken and Honey Black Pepper Beef Short Rib.
Lil' Ba-Ba-Reeba! or Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!
2024 N Halsted St. Chicago, IL 60614 Delicious tapas and sangria. Rachel and Dan both dream about the Bacon Wrapped Dates and shishito peppers.
Ema
Small plates, sharing Israeli food. Fresh and delicious, the menu is always changing and never disappoints.
Del Seoul
A neighborhood favorite – modern Korean food. Dan and Rachel’s typical order: Sesame-Chili Shrimp Taco, Kalbi Taco, K-town Chicken Wings, and the "O.G." Chicken.
Phodega
Vietnamese soup, a go to for a chilly day. Dan loves the Salt & Pepper Chicken Skins, and they both typically get the Pho Bo (Beef).
Velvet Taco
There are locations of Velvet Taco all around the city. These funky tacos are one of Rachel's favorite quick and delicious meals. She always gets the Chicken and Waffle taco and the Elote and Chips.
