Atilanos (San Diego's Best) is a local favorite that serves up classic Mexican comfort food and hits the spot whether it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner, or that “we should probably call it a night” stop on the way home. It’s Danny’s absolute favorite restaurant, and for good reason — the burritos are massive, the tacos are legit, and everything tastes even better after a night out in Spokane. Whether you’re grabbing takeout or eating in, it’s fast, affordable, and delicious every single time. Before you start exploring all the wonderful things Spokane has to offer, make sure you start your day at Atilanos and fuel up with Danny's favorite, a super breakfast burrito.
Nestled in the heart of downtown Spokane, just blocks from the scenic Spokane River, Dry Fly Distilling offers a distinctive blend of rustic craft spirit heritage and warm urban charm — the perfect spot to get dinner or happy hour.
Step back in time at this retro-style diner in Spokane’s charming Garland District. Ferguson’s Fountain Café serves up classic comfort food, rich milkshakes, and that old-school soda fountain charm that makes every meal feel nostalgic. It’s one of our go-to spots for a relaxed brunch or coffee date. After breakfast, take a stroll down Garland Avenue — the street is full of local shops, vintage stores, a historic theater, and fun little boutiques that are perfect for exploring.
If you’re looking for a spot to hang out, play, and grab a drink, Flatstick Pub is a must-visit. It’s a Spokane favorite featuring local craft beers, a mini golf course, and their signature game Duffleboard (imagine mini golf meets shuffleboard). Flatstick strikes the perfect balance of fun and chill — it’s great for groups, date nights, or a little friendly competition. It’s also family-friendly during the day.
Manito Park is one of Spokane’s most beautiful and beloved spots — perfect for a peaceful stroll, picnic, or photo op. The park spans over 90 acres and features five distinct gardens, each with its own charm — from the serene Japanese Garden to the colorful Rose Hill and the lush Duncan Garden that looks straight out of a postcard. It’s a quiet escape right in the city and one of the best places to see Spokane in bloom. Whether you’re up for a morning walk, a romantic stroll, or just want to enjoy the scenery, Manito Park never disappoints. It’s also a favorite spot for engagement and wedding photos (so keep an eye out for other couples posing among the roses!).
Looking to let off some steam (or just show off your skills)? Heber Hatchets is a lively indoor axe-throwing spot where you can test your aim and compete for bragging rights. It’s surprisingly easy to learn — and even more fun once you start hitting bullseyes. This was one of our favorite date spots — though Peyton loved it a little extra because she was way better at axe throwing than Danny (a fact she still brings up regularly). It’s a great group activity or a fun twist on a casual afternoon in Spokane.
For anyone who loves local craft beer and a laid-back vibe, Humble Abode Brewing is a must-visit. Tucked away in North Spokane, this family-owned brewery serves up creative small-batch beers in a cozy, welcoming setting that makes you feel right at home — hence the name. While in grad school, Danny helped his friend Andrew complete a review of every brewery in Spokane. Humble Abode won among 20 total breweries with a score of 9.15/10. The beer is fantastic and the owners are incredibly nice.
