Nicole and Daniel first met in May 2023 in Washington, D.C., on a night that almost didn’t happen. Daniel was visiting the city with three of his friends, and Nicole only agreed to go out after some serious convincing from her roommate. But as fate would have it, that spontaneous night out turned into the start of something pretty special. A few months later, in July, they decided it was time for a real first date, so Nicole flew down to Destin, Florida to meet Daniel. (Of course, she gave her parents his full name and address just in case he turned out to be one of those weirdos you hear about in true crime podcasts. Luckily, he wasn’t!) Around that time, Daniel was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base and had just bought his first home! They spent the next year dating long-distance, seeing each other every few weeks and making the most of every visit. In July 2024, after Nicole’s club volleyball season ended, the two decided it was time to close the distance. Nicole packed up her life in D.C. and moved to Destin to live with Daniel in his house. Leaving her friends behind was difficult, but everyone was incredibly supportive. Upon her arrival, they immediately got to work decorating and filling the empty rooms that had been untouched all year! Since then, they’ve traveled internationally, spent holidays with their families, and built a life together filled with laughter, love, and plenty of adventures. On October 4th, 2025, Daniel got down on one knee and asked Nicole to marry him and she answered with the easiest “yes” she’s ever said. This next chapter brings even more excitement, as Nicole and Daniel are set to move back to Washington, D.C., in the summer of 2026. They can’t wait to begin this new adventure and continue building their life together surrounded by the people they love and in the city where their story first began.
