Travel by Train to the Countryside

Public transportation: It’s not at all unreasonable to use public transportation and car services to get to your accommodation, but we have learned that local car service can be spotty. (That said, we keep checking Ubers, they always seem to be around!) The closest commuter train station is St-Remy-les-Chevreuse. Take the RER B from any of several Metro stations in Paris, and catch a taxi or Uber at the station to your accommodation. See car service numbers under Rideshare/Car Rental to the right.

Getting to/from wedding events - We are coordinating rides for those who need them to and from the venue. The less good news: Apparently, this is not always the case. Local Phone Service

Call your mobile carrier and ask about their international roaming packages. It's quick and easy - and highly recommended! It's so much easier have a working cell phone on you. Make sure to include data in your international plan so that you can use the internet, Google Maps, etc. without relying on local Wifi. US Embassy Registry

While France is safe, it doesn't hurt to register your travels with the local US Embassy. They will issue any travel alerts, safety concerns, and emergency needs.

Flight Tip

Pro tip: Look at a variety of European cities to fly in to/out of. Flights within Europe are cheap, so you can fly into a less expensive destination, spend a day or two exploring, and fly to Paris from there. Two cities for one! Last we checked, less expensive cities are Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Oslo, and Madrid.

If you do not have Global Entry (which includes TSA Pre-Check), it might be too late to get an appointment before your travels. One tip is to go ahead and sign up now. Most US airports have enrollment upon arrival back to the US.
