Flight
There are multiple airports you can fly into depending on how you want to structure your trip, but we recommend Queenstown (IATA: ZQN, ICAO: NZQN) as it is central to the south island and the ceremony will be held there. Some may find alternative airports cheaper to fly into. Other options are Christchurch International, which is about a five hour drive or Dunedin International is just under a four hour drive.
Travel Note
Thankfully, Queenstown is a major tourist city so there are plenty of hotels to choose from in every price point. We want you to be able to have the flexibility to stay where you are comfortable with financially, so for this reason we are not requesting everyone stay together in the same place. We recommend staying as close to the center of Queenstown as you can. Google, travelocity, tripadvisor, hotels.com, and expedia are all excellent resources to find the hotel that is perfect for you. In addition, we highly recommend checking out the houses for rent in town. We find these to be a really authentic way to experience Queenstown and can be a cheaper alternative to a hotel (see information below). NOTE: There is a price surge in New Zealand during the month of February as its during the time of their peak tourist season, so make sure to adjust the dates in your searches to get a more accurate price quote.
House Or Rental
There are multiple companies that specialize in house rentals, and most of these houses are AMAZING (and fairly reasonably priced). If you google "holiday houses Queenstown" you'll find a multitude of companies but some of our favorites are "Touch of Spice", "Major Domo" and "GoodStays". Daniel and I personally used Major Domo for our rental house! If you're traveling in a group you may find this is a cheaper option than multiple hotel rooms.
House Or Rental
Holiday Houses, VRBO and AirBnB serve New Zealand and can be used as alternative options to a hotel.
