How We Met

Damn Daniel! Where's your ID?

Where do we begin? We go way back to year 2009/2010. Our dads met 20+ years ago and had been church friends, #MFMGeng. We both moved to the US from Nigeria back in 2008. Our first encounter with each other was in a Music Band called 'Levites in Music' spearheaded by our favorite Aunty of all time; Kate Ariwodola. The funny thing was that we never spoke to each other during band rehearsals or concerts. The same music that brought us together is what has kept us jointly. Fast forward to when Daniel began to drive, he would give me rides to rehearsal. We would talk here and there, maybe a couple of text messages here and there. We ended up attending the same University together and developed an inseparable friendship. October 19 2016, we started dating officially. Ever since, through thick and thin we have been rocking together and are now trying to tie this knot till Infinity. #DInfinity Our story is a story of perseverance, love, and patience. We have learnt love truly is the answer to it all and with God they know and believe wholeheartedly that our love bond will continue to wax stronger in the name of Jesus. Love is such a beautiful thing and if you're reading this, you too can experience a love like this and even better. Our advice - find who you are, be comfortable with who you are, work on self-improvement, be honest with yourself. Talk to God, He's your bestfriend, your counselor and He knows what's best for you and who He Has ordained for you. #DODOxADANNY

Our Proposal Story

From Dodo's perspective

Ahhh, what can I say? I am honestly still in shock but God is good. I literally watch our proposal video almost every Tuesday to get in my feels and to remember everything that went down! So back track, about a month before the proposal, Daniel told me that since my birthday falls on a week day that he'd like to take me out to celebrate. I was like HECK YES! I didn't know what he was planning, but I knew it had to be special because he told me a month in advance and this man is not your typical planner! I was simultaneously planning a birthday getaway for me and my friends that weekend, but due to covid, my plans did not prosper. I was very hurt and I told Daniel that I didn't want to celebrate my birthday anymore, I just wanted to cancel everything - typical overdramatic queen Idowu! LOL But I started to notice some strange things leading up to THE DAY. My friends would ask me random questions about my hair, nails, outfit and my dad and Daniel always went out to have a "manly talk". Fast forward to January 19, 2021: I got my hair DID, Nails check, makeup on deck and a beautiful white sequins "show your beck" dress, LOL. Daniel picked me up, he was looking fioneee too. I felt so bad leaving my parents to go and celebrate with my bf. Little did I know that they were in on the plan. Daniel was calm but I knew something fishy was going on. We got to Vashon Island and all of a sudden he told me to put on a blindfold. I got out of the car, started walking, trusting this man to lead me in the middle of no where. And then I heard music and I said "Is that live music", he didn't say anything. I finally opened my blind fold. There I was standing in an igloo, rose petals in the shape of a heart, candles, bright lights, champagne, "MARRY ME" letters all around me, a photographer, a violinist playing "perfect", our FRIENDS! The only thing I remembered Daniel saying was "Idowu, I don't need to say much" WOW, WHAT?! I said YES to the man of my dreams and reality. ALL GOD!
