Tamworth, NH is where the bride was born and raised. Although the town population is only 3000 people, the main street downtown is definitely worth a stop. Grab a coffee at the Art in the Age Cafe then head to the neighboring Other Store for a delicious giant cookie and local gifts. Stroll further down the road and you'll pass The Barnstormers; the longest running Summer Theater in the nation. Swing into Tamworth Distilling to warm up with tastings of homemade spirits, or call in advance to get a full tour of the facilities. www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/travel/2019/04/09/tiny-tamworth-big-pleasures
Fall in New England is pretty spectacular. If you are not one for long scenic drives, there are numerous spots right in Tamworth and neighboring Chocorua that offer spectacular views of the changing leaves. Continuing your journey through downtown Tamworth, you can walk or drive further up Cleveland Hill Road for some leaf peeping. Driving to the Chocorua Lake bridge also offers stellar views of the mountain reflecting on the water. North Conway and the Lake Winnepesaukee area also have beautiful views of the fall foliage; you also can always take a drive on the Kancamagus Highway to see beautiful views and waterfalls.
Believe it or not, tiny Tamworth is home to a winery! Whipple Tree Winery is located on Turkey Street in Tamworth, about five minutes from "downtown" Tamworth. Order a flight of wine and relax on the porch or inside of the quaint cottage in the woods. They are open only on Saturday and Sunday in the off season 12:00-6:00pm. https://whippletreewinery.com• - Tamworth Distilling tamworthdistilling.com • Rockingham Brewing http://www.rockinghambrewing.com/home/ • Squam Brewing https://www.squambrewing.com/ • Hermit Woods Winery https://hermitwoods.com/ - Tuckerman's Brewery https://tuckermanbrewing.com/main.php
The MWV has a huge range of hikes for all abilities. A favorite walk/hike is Foss Mountain only 0.9 miles out and back. Located in Eaton off Foss Mtn. Road, about twenty minutes from both North Conway and Tamworth. An easy walk on a wide gravel path to the summit that offers up 360 degree views of the entire Mount Washington Valley. Another easy hike is Black Cap, 2.3 miles out and back. Located on Hurricane Mtn Road at the peak of the road. Once on the granite slab summit the views down into the valley and North into Crawford Notch are beautiful. Another option is Cathedral Ledge via the Bryce Path, 1.9 miles out and back. It is located in the heart of North Conway, so very convenient if you are staying up there! If you're not feeling so active.. you can easily drive up to the top of Cathedral Ledge for these views. There are countless more hikes in the area so reach out to the bride for more information if desired. The father of the bride is a pro with this!
