We met in the early summer of 2018 on a dating app. Adriana’s profile said, “If I super liked you, it was probably a mistake.” Dan’s first message? “I super liked you, but it definitely wasn’t a mistake.” And somehow, that was the perfect beginning. When Adriana’s friends (east-end girlies at heart) realized he lived over 45 km away, they were scandalized. “He’s basically in Ottawa!!,” they said. But the distance didn’t matter. From the start, something just felt easy. Over the years, we’ve grown up together, finishing our degrees, starting new jobs, and building a life we love. In July 2022, we moved into our condo with our very chunky cat, Tigger, who has since become the king of the household (aka 'king of the castle' but only if you read it in Dan's Borat voice). In December 2025, we welcome our little chocolate lab into our home, it's been a journey of keeping up with Kobe, but we've learned to support eachother and share love. In the process, we became not just best friends, but each other’s constant, lovers, teammates, and home all in one. Dan proposed on June 7, 2024, during a sunset picnic in Mallorca, Spain, one of Adriana’s favourite summer activities. She was severely sunburnt from a beach day (a part of the burn still lives on), but Dan got down on one knee anyway. Pulling off a surprise was no small feat, especially with Adriana being so 'type A' and having meticulously planned every hour of their Italy itinerary (iykyk). Somehow, he managed to sneak the ring across the ocean and keep it hidden the entire trip. That night, we watched the last bit of sun fade over the water, talking through every detail, including how he planned it, how she (miraculously) didn’t catch on, and how it all felt exactly right. Nearly 8 years later, our wedding day falls on the anniversary of that moment, and we can’t wait to celebrate it surrounded by the people we love most.
