Question

Is Mexico City safe?

Answer

Don't make me get the chancla. Is Kansas City safe? Is New York City safe? Is St. Louis safe? Like any of these large cities, certain parts of Mexico City are not the best, but if you stick to recommended areas & use common sense, you will be fine amigos! Our wedding will take place near where the president of Mexico resides, so you will be protected by private security at our venue and federales in the historic center of CDMX! As a reminder when traveling abroad don't wear expensive watches or jewelry outside of the big day, only carry small amounts of cash, and keep your passport in a safe spot.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

To enter Mexico, all foreign nationals, including US citizens, require a valid passport that is not expired. This passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Mexico. Additionally, you'll need a properly completed Multiple Digital Migration Form (FMMd). You can obtain this form from the airline or at the port of entry.

Question

Do I get a plus one? / ¿Recibiré un plus one?

Answer

We are so thrilled to celebrate our special day with you! Please note that our guest list is limited, so we kindly ask that only those named on the invitation attend. / ¡Estamos muy emocionados de celebrar nuestro día especial contigo! Ten en cuenta que nuestra lista de invitados es limitada, así que les pedimos amablemente que solo asistan quienes estén nombrados en la invitación.

Question

Are children allowed? ¿Se permiten niños?

Answer

To give all our guests the opportunity to celebrate, we politely request NO CHILDREN for the wedding. / Para brindarles a todos nuestros invitados la oportunidad de celebrar sin tener que preocuparse, solicitamos de la manera mas atenta que NO HAYA niños.

Question

How do I pay for things in Mexico City?

Answer

The U.S. dollar cannot be used in México, so bring Mexican pesos with you. DO NOT GET YOUR PESOS AT THE AIRPORT IN MEXICO CITY. You can exchange your local currency at a bank, credit union, or online currency exchange services. You can use ATMs in Mexico City that offer currency exchange, but this may not be the safest option depending on where you are getting the money from. Most places also take credit cards, but it’s best to have some cash for tips, public restrooms, street tacos, etc. You’ll see the $ sign on all prices, but this refers to the Mexican peso, not the U.S. dollar (Depending on the current exchange rate, $1 US Dollar = 18-19 pesos)

Question

How do I get there and what will traffic be like?

Answer

Mexico City is the most populous city in both the Western Hemisphere and North America. Unfortunately, KCI doesn't have a direct route to Mexico City. KC Mayor Quinton Lucas, has expressed interest in expanding international flights to Mexico, you can text him at 816-679-1662 (he gives this out publicly) and let him know you would like a direct flight to Mexico City. Until then we caution you all to be careful when it comes to choosing flights and tight connections. Also, I do traffic reports every day and it's mind-boggling how much congestion there is in Mexico City at 2 p.m. We encourage you all to give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination especially the day of the wedding. Our wedding will be at the historic center in CDMX where delays are routine.

Question

Will my cellphone work?

Answer

Almost all the main carriers, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, offer affordable and even free roaming in Mexico. We recommend you check with your carrier before traveling.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

Ride-shares like Uber are available in Mexico City, which is why we are encouraging you all to check with your carrier on internet availability so you can move throughout the city. Using the metro as a foreign traveler is not recommended in Mexico City. We can also coordinate a private car service for you guys, just contact one of us.

Question

What is the weather like in Mexico City?

Answer

Mexico City sits at a high altitude (over 7,300 feet). So be sure you drink plenty of water and give yourself time to get acclimated. May typically has a high of 75-80 and a low of 50 (so bring some type of coat or shawl for the early mornings and evenings). Mexico City is notorious for a random rain shower, so packing a small umbrella may also be helpful.

Question

¿Hay mesa de regalos?

Answer

No, lamentablemente, como no vivimos en la Ciudad de México, no tendremos mesa de regalos. Si lo deseas, puedes contribuir a nuestro fondo de luna de miel, disponible en este sitio web.

Question

Why Mexico City?

Answer

Daniela was born in Mexico City and her parents immigrated from Mexico City in the 90's. Having our wedding in Mexico City will be a full-circle moment for both families. For Daniela, having our wedding in Mexico City is a way to thank her parents for the sacrifice they made many years ago and remind them it was all worth it. For Luke, having our wedding in Mexico City will illustrate a picture to his family of the beauty behind Mexican culture, traditions, and values that will become a foundation in starting our future family.
