FAQs

Question

What should I know about getting around?

Answer

The Montrose/Ouray area is very rural, so Uber and Lyft are extremely limited. We highly recommend renting a car for the weekend to make getting around easy and flexible. Rental cars are available at Montrose (closest), Grand Junction, Denver, and Aspen airports. If you’re staying in Ouray, you’ll still want a car to travel between locations. For the wedding day, we will be providing shuttle transportation to and from the reception from the hotel in Montrose, so you won’t need to worry about driving that night.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We’ve done our best to include all guests and their significant others on the invitation. If your RSVP includes a plus one, you’ll see the option when you respond. If you believe a significant other may have been missed, feel free to reach out to us and we’ll be happy to help!

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration (16+). We hope this gives everyone a chance to relax and enjoy a fun night out!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Late September in Montrose and Ouray is beautiful but can be a bit unpredictable. You can expect fall weather with warm, sunny days and cooler mornings and evenings. Morning/ Evening: 30s–40s °F Daytime: 70s–80s °F We recommend dressing in layers, especially for the evening when temperatures can drop.

Question

What is the altitude and what should I know?

Answer

Montrose sits at about 5,800 feet, and Ouray is a bit higher at around 7,800 feet above sea level. Because of the elevation, the air is much drier and contains less oxygen than what many guests may be used to. You may notice mild effects like feeling out of breath more easily or getting tired quicker. We recommend drinking plenty of water, taking it easy when you arrive, and limiting alcohol until you’re acclimated.

Question

How late will the wedding go?

Answer

The celebration will go until around 11:00 PM on Saturday, September 26th.

Question

Will there be alcohol at the wedding?

Answer

We will have a beer and wine menu along with a great sober menu—so whether you’re sipping, skipping, or somewhere in between, you’re covered!

Question

Will there be a photographer for guest photos?

Answer

Yes! During cocktail hour, we’ll have a photographer available for guest portraits. Feel free to grab a photo with friends, family, or your date—we’d love for you to take advantage of it!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Our dress code is Mountain Formal. For men, we recommend suits. For women, long dresses or elevated cocktail attire are perfect. While we love the western setting, this is a formal event rather than western wear. We also recommend outdoor-friendly footwear and bringing layers, as temperatures can cool down in the evening.

Question

Is there parking available?

Answer

Yes! There will be plenty of parking available at the venue, as well as at all other wedding events. We will also be providing shuttle transportation on the wedding day to and from the hotel in Montrose. Please note that shuttle service will not be provided from Ouray, so guests staying there should plan their own transportation.

Question

Will there be cell service at the venue?

Answer

Keep in mind that when driving around this part of Colorado, you’ll likely lose and regain cell service depending on your location—this is very normal in the area. We recommend saving directions and any important information ahead of time just in case.

Question

What should I know about the venue and what to wear?

Answer

Our wedding will take place at Storm King Ranch with both indoor and outdoor spaces. We recommend wearing comfortable, outdoor-friendly footwear. Temperatures can drop in the evening, so bringing layers is encouraged.

Question

Are there events throughout the weekend?

Answer

Yes! We’d love to spend time with everyone throughout the weekend—everything is optional, so no pressure to attend all events. Thursday: Casual lake day with the bride and groom—just a relaxed hangout if you’re in town Friday (6:00–9:00 PM): Welcome party for all guests (A separate dinner for family will take place beforehand if invited) Saturday: Wedding day! Ceremony begins at 4:00 PM—we recommend arriving around 3:30 PM

Question

Do we need to bring a gift or is there a registry?

Answer

Your presence is truly the best gift, so please don’t feel any pressure to bring anything! If you feel inclined, we will have options available on our registry and at the wedding—whatever you’re most comfortable with.

Question

How long does it take to get to the venue?

Answer

Storm King Mountain Ranch is located just outside of Montrose. From Montrose: ~15–20 minutes From Ouray: ~30–40 minutes We recommend allowing a little extra time for travel and arriving around 3:30 PM for the ceremony.
