This is a long story, that we will tell in full at the wedding. For a preview, Danica played detective and discovered a stolen car. She called 911 and Job responded to the scene to save the day - and steal her heart.
Why not Montreal? Job has family living in Canada and the wedding seemed like a perfect opportunity to use our passports and explore.
There is so much to do in Montreal, it is difficult to fit it all into one trip. The city is a mix of old and new architecture, there are art museums and street murals, one of the largest botanical gardens in the world, a prevalent jazz and comedy scenes, delicious food, and even biking and hiking opportunities in the city itself. We recommend staying at least a few days to experience at least some fun that the city has to offer.
The wedding is at the Jamaica Pavilion at the Parc Jean-Drapeau. The park includes two islands, Saint Helen's Island and the artificial island Notre Dame Island, situated off the shore of Old Montreal in the Saint Lawrence River. The park includes the Formula One race track, an amusement park, casino, concert venue, beach, and the Olympic rowing basin.
There are many options to getting to the wedding. We will have parking permits on hand for guests who drive. The venue may also be reached via Uber or you can even bike!
The ceremony will take place outside at the Italy Gardens (on the grounds of the Jamaica Pavilion). We will then move indoors for the reception, dinner, and dancing. Dress accordingly!
We want our guests to feel comfortable and be ready to dance. We recommend semi-formal or cocktail wear and your best dancing shoes.
To allow guests, including parents, a day of relaxation, we have chosen our wedding to be an ADULT-ONLY occasion. Your kiddos can still join in on the trip to Montreal and we will provide updated information for local nanny services for your consideration. Let us know if you plan on traveling with children.
If you would like to offer a present beyond your presence, a monetary gift towards our honeymoon, home renovations, or date nights would be appreciated. Please check out our registry for to make a contribution to things such as our honeymoon or a date night!
The wedding will only be on Sunday, June 14, but we hope have some other activities plan for our guests. Feel free to come to the city only for the wedding, but we highly recommend using the wedding as an opportunity for a little (or big) trip and international experience.
For non-Canadian citizens and residents, a passport is needed to enter Canada. However, you should not need a visa to enter the country.
For Canada, you will need an active passport. It takes about 6-8 weeks to get a passport, so we do not recommend delaying this important step! All information about applying for and renewing passports is online: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html.
Although French is the official language of Quebec, most locals speak English as well. Signs and menus are often offered in both French and English. If preferred, ask for English.
This will be an alcohol-free wedding. We request that all guests also refrain from drinking alcohol on the premises.
