An absolute must! Rated as one of the best walk through light shows in the nation. You'll want to bundle up as it gets chillier down by the water. Admission is free and they pass out free marshmallows to roast over an open fire, hot chocolate, popcorn, and cookies.
Large building with tons of shopping and multiple restaurants. Definitely check out Trail Fitters for all your outdoor gear/clothing needs, and the Kitchen Store.
Shopping and restaurants right on lake superior! We especially like Northern Waters Smokehouse for lunch. Vikre Distillery has great coctails and mocktails and Canal Park Brewing is great for beer and lunch.
Tons of hip restaurants and shopping. We live up at the top of the hill from here, near Enger Tower!
Beautiful views of the city. We love to hike to Enger from our home in the warmer months. The trails can get a bit slick when it's snowy though so be careful!
One of our favorite places in town to hike! Take the trail along the river - just be mindful of snow and ice which can make the trail slick. We recommend yaktrax if its snowy.
Best coffee in Duluth!
The decorate beautifully for Christmas and they do an amazing candle lit tour!
They have otters! (But you're not guaranteed to see them as they have "free will", ask Dani about this story)
Take the scenic highway up the shore and visit Gooseberry Falls! Go a little further and you can visit Tettegouche (pronounced Tet-Ah-Gooch) State Park. On your way back down, be sure to stop at Rustic Inn for some of the North Shore's best pie! (Drive right on past Betty's Pies! It's a tourist trap and they don't even have Betty's recipes anymore lol). Then make sure stop at Castle Danger for a cream ale! It's one of our favorite beers. As you get closer to Duluth again, you can stop by Russ Kendall's Smoke House for some really good smoked fish. If the waves are big enough (usually there needs to be a bit of a storm going on) you can add a stop at Stony Point to watch the surfers! (If you're up for a couple more stops, add Black Beach Park and Palisade Head, both are between Gooseberry and Tettegouche)
Very good barbecue. We recommend the brisket!
Great asian fusion style menu!
Stop in for some of the best smoked whitefish in the Northland (Rich Weigel's favorite) and one of their famous Tom and Jerry's! Great food all around.
Best burgers in Duluth.
Amazing food, highly recommend! It was featured on Diner's, Drive In's, and Dives!
Good breakfast and ice cream.
One of the best spots for breakfast/brunch in town! Also featured on Diner's, Drive-In's, and Dives. You can't make a reservation but you can put yourself on the waiting list online before you get there!
We went here on one of our first dates. Delicious Scandinavian cafe. Take the scenic highway up and enjoy gorgeous views of the lake along the way!
Excellent Italian food (a little on the pricier side).
Farm to table style restaurant with options for those with dietary restrictions! Also appeared on Diner's, Drive-In's, and Dives!
Great sandwiches and soups and they often have live music!
One of our favorite breweries and Danielle's favorite pizza in the city! Plus it's where we had our first date!
Excellent brewery which often hosts fun free events.
Adorable, great cider, and great events!
The bride and grooms favorite dive bar. Cash only and karaoke every Friday and Saturday night! Be sure to have a PBR and a shot of apple pie in our honor.
Fancy new cocktail bar in Lincoln Park with rotating menu.
Pronounced Vee-Kra. Cocktail bar and distillery in Canal Park with great drinks.
