Bring your bikes, boots, fishing gear, rafts and whatever else you can think of for an outdoor adventure. The Arkansas river has some of the best fly fishing in Colorado, and there's an endless supply of trails for all skill levels to hike or bike. If you're visiting from out of state, check out one of the rental shops in town to borrow a bike for the day.
Mount Princeton Hot Springs
We love this spot for a day trip or an overnight stay to enjoy the natural hot springs in a beautiful setting.
Sweetie's Sandwich Shop
We love getting sandwiches from here when we stop through town. They have a huge menu and a great selection of (huge) desserts.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
The Great Sand Dunes National Park is 1.5 hours from Salida and a great spot to check out if you're spending more time in the area. During the summer, we recommend going early in the morning before the sand gets too hot.
St Elmo Ghost Town
A 45 minute drive from Salida. This is an abandoned mining town with a scenic drive to get there.
Royal Gorge Bridge & Park
Located about 1 hour from Salida, the Royal Gorge is a super cool area with lots of activities including walking the bridge, an amusement park, a scenic train ride, and rafting through the gorge.
