“Switzerland of America” is a small mountain town surrounded by incredible scenery. Check out Main Street for local shops, natural hot springs, or hikes up to Cascade Falls. There are tons of trailheads nearby for all levels, plus scenic drives, waterfalls, and old mining sites to explore just outside of town.
Silverton is a historic mining town, where you can grab a drink at a local saloon, or explore the nearby mountain passes. It’s also the perfect spot for off-roading, hiking, and catching incredible views along the Million Dollar Highway. This is the entrance to Anamas Forks!
A great hike with incredible views winds through cliffs and canyons. You can see how people lived centuries ago, with the mountain dwellers’ homes still preserved. The cliff dwellings give a glimpse into life long ago.
Bear Ranch offers beautiful horseback rides through mountain trails with amazing views of the San Juans!
Montrose is a bit of a drive (2 hours), but it you have any "big-city needs" this is the closest city.
