I thought I was going to Colombia that summer to celebrate my cousins wedding, however God had different plans for me, He was about to start writing my own love story. It all started when my cousin Nestor asked me to go get ice cream. We were sitting outside on a beautiful Friday afternoon, Parisian style, when he told me he had invited two friends. I asked him to tell me a little about them. He said that they were his best friends from elementary school, that they went to the same university and that one of them (AKA Andres) was talking to an older lady he had met on his commute. Fast forward to eating tacos and drinking beer, walking the streets of Bogota, going to the casino and finishing the night off at a class one "cantina", I had grown to REALLY like these guys. That night I felt like I had a better, healthier version of the movie "Hangover". We were the four best friends that anybody could have! Oh, I forgot to mention, while we were walking the streets of Bogota, Andres let me borrow his jacket since it was cold, what a gentleman! What I didn't know was that the next day was going to change my life forever. Come Saturday night, we go out dancing. I get there and to my surprise Andres wasn't there, and to be very honest, I was a little sad, we were going to be the three best friends without him... when all of the sudden I see Andres. Why did my heart skip a beat for one of the four best friends? Weird... Now, the part you are all waiting for, the almost rejection! We are on the dance floor and I see Andres approaching me, he asks if I want to dance and I immediately think of the lady he had met on his commute and how I would not want to betray her trust, so I told him. He responded with a confused look and explained that he was not dating her, that she was too old for him and that she had kids, sorry lady, he's mine now I thought. Our dance was followed by Andres telling me he wrote me a poem the night before and that I was the girl God had for him.
Me equivoqué.
