In August 2012, Dane and I both attended a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation charity event at a small bar in Pendleton, Indiana, hosted by our lovely mutual friend, Dawn. Our gazes met across the bar (cliché, I know) and I had an immediate urge to meet the handsome, tall fella with pretty eyes looking back at me. After a couple of pints of liquid courage, I decided to approach Dane and strike up a conversation myself (not very smoothly might I add). Fortunately, my awkwardness didn't scare him off and we ended up talking the rest of the night. The rest is history.
As we were on the rooftop of the Sheraton hotel in downtown Indy watching the annual Circle of Lights "tree" lighting (one of my favorite Christmas traditions), Dane pulled me away from the cheering crowd. Confused (and slightly annoyed) I followed him as led me away from our friends who were also partaking in the Christmas festivities. Once we were out of the crowd, he stopped, turned around, and faced me. Still confused, I looked around and realized our friend, Danielle, had followed us. In fact, she was holding her phone as if she was taking a picture... of us. At that moment, I realized this was THE moment. I looked back at Dane, and he was already kneeling and proceeded to pop the question. The waterworks started instantly, and I guess I didn't actually answer because after he put the ring on my finger and after we kissed/hugged, he asked, "That's a yes, right?"
