A guide to the best beaches on Maui. Ho'okipa (lots of turtles(honu) and surfing) Lipoa Street Beach (found this beach the last time we visited. Quiet with tons of turtles around sunset.) Honolua Bay Makena Cove - Beautiful small beach with very limited parking (along the side of the road near homes, very rocky, I wouldn't recommend swimming here) Black Rock, Kaanapali Maluaka Beach (honu) Honokalani Beach (black sand beach on the way to Hana - you need to reserve a time slot ahead of time online to go to this beach) Kamaole Beach III (great beach with a picnic/BBQ area, swings, bathroom facilities) Chang's Beach
Kihei Caffe - Best Breakfast (if the line looks long, it goes quick. Don't save a seat. Order first and then they'll get you a seat.) Three's Bar & Grill - Next to Kihei Caffe. The best Happy Hour deals. Half price apps and drinks. You can make online reservations. Sushi - Sansei or Miso Phat Sushi Thai - Nutcharee's Cafe O'Lei at the Mill House - Beautiful grounds to walk around while waiting for your reservation. Make sure to ask for outdoor seating ahead of time if that's what you want. Reservations can be made online. Ekolu Kitchen - Great dinner spot The Pint & Cork - Bar with appetizers Coconuts Fish Cafe Cinnamon Roll Place - Huge cinnamon rolls Sugar Beach Bakery Maui Brewing Co. This is a great place to see the sunrise above the clouds. Leave no later than 330am from Kihei to make it to the top in time. If you plan on going for sunrise during your stay, you MUST make a reservation on the website in advance. You will not be able to get one if you wait until you arrive on Maui. If you cannot get a vehicle pass for sunrise, sunset is great to see as well. It is VERY cold here, so layer and bring blankets. A great day trip in Upcountry Maui can include Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm, Ocean Vodka Distillery (sunset is supposed to be great from here as well), Maui Winery, Surfing Goat Dairy, Maui Goat Yoga, visiting Makawao, eating at Hali'imaile General Store, Kula Bistro (great food and pies) or Kula Lodge (great outdoor area to eat with views). https://www.yelp.com/biz/haleakala-national-park-makawao-2
Use the Shaka app if you decide to drive this. Leave very early so you do not have to drive back in the dark! https://hulalandblog.com/driving-road-to-hana-maui/ There are bus tours you can take as well if you don't want to drive one lane roads and across small bridges with many cars parked along the side of the road to look at the sights. If you make it to Hana, check out the Hana Lava Tubes. If you plan on making the drive, figure on it taking up the whole day. When you drive back, stop at Haleakala National Park to watch the sunset. FUN FACT: Dawn made it half way about 15 years ago and will never drive it again :D
Nice area to walk around and take pictures.

There is a shop and very small veggie/fruit stand and they have a small train/tram that gives tours of the plantation if you purchase a ticket. Cafe O'Lei at the Mill House is located here. Cafe O'Lei is located here. They have beautiful grounds and you can see the zip liners if you have a seat outdoors.
There are a lot of companies that offer trips to Molokini to snorkel. Olowalu Beach has great snorkeling and is about 30 minutes from Kihei, but you need to bring/rent snorkel equipment beforehand in Kihei (Snorkel Bob's, etc.). This beach is near Leoda's Pie Shoppe (breakfast/lunch/mini pies).

There's tons of shopping everywhere. The Shoppes at Wailea (closest mall to Kihei - a lot of high end stores) Whaler's Village (Lahaina) https://www.whalersvillage.com/en.html Costco and Walmart have the cheapest souvenirs other than ABC stores.
Saturdays at University of Hawaii-Maui. There are plenty of vendors and some food trucks. You can find a lot of great deals and souvenirs here.
These stores are EVERYWHERE. Great for cheap souvenirs, snacks/drinks, liquor. After you land at the airport, be sure to pick up the coupon books/brochures you will see by baggage claim/exit. ***Don't forget to keep all of your receipts. You get free gifts once you reach a certain amount.
The BEST pies on the island! Our favorites are the Olowalu Lime and Banana Cream pies. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always a great spot to stop for breakfast or lunch on your way to the West Side of the island (Kaanapali, Dragon's Teeth) or for pies to take home on your way back to Kihei.
