Question

Why Mid-City Church in City Heights San Diego?

Answer

Mid-City is a beautiful labyrinth of cinder block & chipped paint, with the tallest steeple in City Heights stretching skyward and a rotation of diverse, wonderful people flowing through its courtyard. Mid-City hosts 3 food distributions each week, serving 120 families per distribution and up to 10 tons of food per week. It is also home to 6 different language congregations that gather in worship on Sundays including: French-Creole, English, Khmer, Spanish, & Kiswahili. For 18 years Mid-City served meals at the Salvation Army in downtown, and they have opened their doors during inclement weather to our friends sleeping on the streets. Point Loma Nazarene University offers classes onsite and the Health Promotion Center, a free clinic giving vaccinations and routine check ups. Shared experience at Mid-City originally drew Erin & David together, and so they saw it only fitting to hold their wedding in its sanctuary. They are excited & grateful for you to join & share this space with them.

Question

Will there be donuts?

Answer

Yes. Carlos' Donuts from Tehachapi CA will be provided!

Question

Well, what about spaghetti?

Answer

Good question. There will be spaghetti. Mr. Will Sykes, long time catering chef from Mid-City Church, will be preparing the meal. There will be vegan and gluten-free options!

Question

And coffee?

Answer

And coffee! Union Coffee, based in Peoria AZ, will be providing us with their Ethiopian Gugi roast along with a generous portion of their House Cold Brew Blend. Thanks Jon Runion and Union crew!

Question

What's the deal with parking?

Answer

Great question. Parking in City Heights is tricky, but not impossible. Street parking down 41st Ave and Wightman St, one block south of University Ave, will be the best options in the immediate location. Carpooling from hotels and other residencies also seems like a good option, (depending on who you ride with). If you are willing to Uber to the church, there are public parking lots a couple miles away in North Park.

Question

Which building will the ceremony be in?

Answer

The large sanctuary just West of Mid-City's steeple. From 41st Ave, the door on the corner of 41st and University. From University, through the double doors and to your right. From the courtyard, larger building on the West side with stained glass windows.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

High of 75, friends. It may be humid: short sleeves are appropriate. The evening may get down to mid/low 60s, so bring a sweater! Probably no wool suits?

Question

On that note, dress code?

Answer

Dressy Casual! Be comfortable; Be you.
