Detroit Institute of Arts
When we lived at the Park Shelton (our first apartment), we'd refer to the DIA as our backyard as it was right next door. It was recently named the best art museum in the country by USA Today. Make sure to check out our favorite paintings: Postman Roulin by Vincent van Gough, The Wedding Dance by Pieter Bruegel, and The Fruit Vendor by Pensionante del Saraceni.
Belle Isle
Just over a mile from our home, Belle Isle is a beauty that's true to its name. From the gorgeous conservatory to breathtaking views of the Detroit skyline, it's a great place to spend the day. Don't miss the new Oudolf Gardens, which were done by the same designer who did the High Line in New York.
Comerica Park
Stick around Saturday to catch the Tigers at home as they play the Minnesota Twins. You may even run into a few of our friends who are the brains behind the ballpark. It's where Dan caught his first ball and later his first job.
Huddle Soft Serve
We plan to serve Huddle at our wedding, but don't be surprised if you find yourself craving more. It's just a stone throw away from our venue and in the heart of downtown.
Eastern Market
Operating for over 130 years, this is one of our favorite places to spend a Saturday. Eastern Market has the freshest food and flowers from farmers all over the state. Plus, it's the best people watching around.
Leila
Our absolute favorite resturant in Detroit. It's a great spot if you like mediterranean food (make sure to get the branzino!) and are up for exploring downtown afterward.
