We both swiped right on Hinge and started chatting. While we had a few scheduling challenges arranging a first date, eventually Dan suggested meeting for coffee. Morgan agreed, but shyly added that she wasn't a coffee drinker - luckily, neither was Dan. Teas in hand, we strolled down Polk street getting to know one another. We both loved to travel. He had just gotten back from a week of surfing in Costa Rica; she was about to head there for a yoga and surfing retreat. We'd both gone to Branson, where Morgan's mom worked, for high school (but didn't overlap). Morgan and Robyn both went to Williams. Dan's family had known both Morgan's childhood art teacher, Marya, and her current Dean of Students, Dr. P, for years. Morgan liked Dan's desire to explore the world and loved how smitten he was with his niece and nephews. Dan liked Morgan's independent spirit and her smile. While walking, we ran into a friend of Dan's from Branson and then a friend of Morgan's from UCSF - it totally wasn't awkward at all. Returning to the coffee shop, we decided to meet up again after Morgan was back from her trip. We did. And that was that.
