Dan and Molly met during their junior year of college in 2013. They started talking at a party one night, and after learning a little bit about each other, Dan asked for Molly's phone number (and he didn't wait to text making sure she got home safely that night). After a few months of getting to know each other, they officially started dating the day before Valentine's Day in 2014. Dan and Molly both graduated from Central Michigan University in 2015. They dated long distance after graduating, driving back and forth between Michigan and Illinois for about 7 months before Molly moved to Chicago in March of 2016. It was then that Dan started his job as a police officer in the suburbs, and Molly began her career in advertising in the city. Fast forward to September 2021, Dan and Molly went on a quick weekend trip to Florida to see a Rays/Tigers baseball game for Molly's birthday. The morning of the game, Dan insisted on checking out the beach to start the day. They drove to nearby Howard Beach, found a secluded spot on the water, where Dan got down on one knee and asked Molly to marry him.
