Swiped Right

12.19.20

It all started with a Swipe. A prompt on Bumble and a cute wine bar in Chelsea led to a clear spark. Dan found Kayce beautiful, smart, and funny, and already asked her out again before the date was even over. Kayce found Dan thoughtful, hilarious, very smart, and also having a passion for adventure! Of course this was Winter 2020, so Kayce told Dan to give her a call in about four months after she was back from spending Covid in California. Patience is a virtue, and four months later we had our second date – an escape room where we would save the world from a nuclear apocalypse. Despite the two of us being alone in a room made for 12 people, we somehow managed to pull it off and so began a great partnership to plan adventures, travel the world, and occasionally rope friends into game nights, escape rooms, murder mystery parties, and discovering bougie new cocktail bars with us. We feel so blessed, thankful, and lucky to have found each other and we can’t wait to celebrate with our closest friends and families!

The Proposal

8.13.23

A new city, a new life together. The first weekend we moved to Los Angeles, Kayce was convinced it was her idea to invite friends Anika, Andrew, and Rowan to go explore the Griffith Observatory. The view was absolutely beautiful with the twinkling lights of the city, and from the top you could even see our new apartment below. Little did she know, her friends were in on the plan, as was her brother John, sister-in-law Nicole, and dog-nephew Bruski who were lying in wait with a picturesque proposal of rose petals, tea lights, and the simple words “Marry Me”. And lie in wait they did, because it was the night of the Perseid Meteor Shower, which took the couple and friends over an hour to fight traffic and find parking (plus we managed to get our “engagement parking ticket”). So in true Dan and Kayce style, we were late to our own engagement. And when Dan got down on one knee, Kayce’s first reaction was “stop messing around. You can’t just use someone else’s proposal”. And then she saw the ring. And with a few cheers of “go for it” from random tourists who came for the meteor shower, she said yes. And with tears in their eyes on their new rooftop, Kayce’s parents, John and Jenny, brought the champagne and we celebrated a truly magical evening ✨
