May 31st please!
Short answer: the Anand Karaj. Long answer: the Anand Karaj is mainly formalities and when we officially sign our lives away! HOWEVER...if you're looking to ~party party~ the Jaggo or Reception will be your best bet.
Nope! The bride's side is 99% non-Indian so of course her guests are not expected to dress in traditional clothing. But if you are interested...the ladies may search for: salwar kameez, lehenga choli, anarkali suit, sharara suit; the men can search for: kurta pajama (though most men will wear a suit to all events). However, Dana will be dressing in traditional clothes! Here are some websites for inspo/options for guests: • https://www.lashkaraa.com/ • https://bazaarcustoms.com/ Just remember to keep it more modest for the Anand Karaj, and to go full glam for the Reception (: Please also see the next few questions for more outfit inquiries and my Pinterest board for guests!
There are no hard rules regarding colors, but to be safe, please refrain from wearing all red or all white for the Anand Karaj as these are typically reserved for the bride. However, red is acceptable for the Jaggo since it’s a very colorful affair! Please also note that the Anand Karaj will be in a sacred place with floor seating; please wear something more modest and easy to move in! Head coverings are also required (please see next question) before entry. No shoes and socks inside the temple as well. Get them toes done!!!
Just a loose and light scarf that you can secure with bobby pins will work fine! The head must be covered (men & women) on the temple’s premises. Here are some examples: https://pin.it/2ZCsFe1sy
I’ve made a few collages on Pinterest for outfit inspo if you need it! Please follow this link: https://pin.it/4vhy44iR5
All events will be serving Indian food buffet-style! Indian traditions = Indian cuisine. It only makes sense! The Anand Karaj will be serving strictly vegetarian Indian food.
We will have a selection of Filipino desserts for the Reception! But for the other events, it will be strictly Indian dishes.
When in doubt...do as the Romans do! I'm sure you will find a helpful auntie at every turn (:
